KoSA's Rock Band Camp is a non-residential day-camp held at the KoSA
Center for the Arts in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (NDG). Youths get the opportunity
to play music in a professionally-organized environment. Rock Campers will
learn not only how to play in a band but also what it means to actually be part of
a band! They learn how to put a band together, how to rehearse, and prepare
themselves for a concert performance at the end of the week. In addition, the
KoSA faculty will share their invaluable knowledge about the ins and outs of the
music industry.
All instruments are welcome at KoSA's Rock Band Camp, but we do ask that
horn players have at least 3 years experience on sax, trombone, or trumpet. At
least 2 years of experience is needed for rhythm section instruments such as
the guitar, bass, keyboard and drums. Prior experience is mandatory in order for
our participants to take full advantage of the challenging and rewarding
coursework and material.
Electric guitar, bass, and keyboard players are asked to bring their instrument, a
small practice amp, and a cable. Drummers should bring their favorite set of
sticks. KoSA will provide drum kits and all percussion instruments. Vocalists will
have all the gear they need on site.
"I can say without a doubt that my 3 years studying at the Kosa academy and Kosa International Percussion Workshop with Aldo Mazza and John Diraimo gave me the tools I needed to be prepared for Musician's Institute in Los Angeles. My reading, my technique, my different grooves, my song form, my classic drum method ( book) and the last but not the least, the passion, the désire and the hapiness you have taught as you shared your knowledge.
Long life to Kosa and thank you again Aldo"

"During my time studying at Kosa Academy with Aldo Mazza and all of the teachers that I had the opportunity to work with greatly improved my understanding of, and ability on the drum set. But more than that, it increased my overall appreciation of music as a whole and taught me about the way that drums contribute to music. Aldo's passion and dedication are evident in all aspects of the school. The resources that are easily available, the facilities, the breadth of genres that each student is exposed to and the various intensive workshops all contribute to an enriching and enjoyable experience. I am grateful to him for providing such an excellent environment to learn about music, and in particular drumming."
